General:

• Small pets up to 8 Kgs (16 lb.) of weight including the carrier will be acceptable for carriage in the cabin
• All pets accepted for carriage must be provided with health/vaccination
• Certificate and Entry Permits required by the relevant authorities at transit and/or destination stations

Reservation Procedure:

• All requests to carry pets accompanied by passengers must be submitted to El Al reservations office indicating the pet's weight including the carrier and carriers dimensions
• Central Reservations will confirm the acceptance to the relevant reservations office
• Carriage of pets in cabin is not allowed in:
  • B747-400 - First Class and Upper Deck
  • B747-200 - Upper Deck
  • B777 - First Class and Business Class

Conditions for Acceptance to the Cabin:

• Soft-sided carrier is acceptable for in cabin use.
• Maximum dimensions are:
  • 15-1/2" x 15-1/2" x 7" (40cm x 40cm x 21cm)
• Container must be lines with soft material to absorb moisture and be constructed in such a way to prevent leakage
• No more than two live puppies or kittens may be carried in same container provided the total weight does not exceed 8 Kgs. (16 Lbs.)
• Pets (domestic animals) will not be accepted in-cabin for London, Johannesburg and Hong Kong.
• Animals must not have an offensive odor
• Animal may not occupy a seat and must remain in the carrier throughout the flight

Calculation of Charge:

• The charge for the carriage of pets accompanied by passenger (normal excess baggage rate) will be regardless of the passenger's regular baggage weight
• The calculation will be based on the weight of the animal plus career plus the weight of the food, if any.

Documentation:

• Dogs, cats and birds up to two each, accompanied by their owners, after being in their possession abroad for at least 90 days, are exempt for Israel Veterinary
• Import Permit. But must bear Veterinary Health Certification issued by a
• Government Veterinary Officer in the Country of Origin, stating the animals are healthy and free of infection and contagious disease.
• In addition, the Certificate will state that the pets were vaccinated against rabies, not more than a year and not less than a month prior to coming to Israel.
• Dogs and cats under the vaccination age (3 months) will not be admitted

• Small pets such as small cats and dogs, as well as rodents such as guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits.
  • Other pets such as birds, snakes, lizards and insects are not permitted in the cabin
• Total weight of the pet and carrier cannot exceed 8 kg (17 lb)
  • Carrier maximum dimension: 22" x 15" x 10" (55cm x 40cm x 20cm)
• Some countries, such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong and Australia, pets are not permitted in the cabin due tot he Regulations of the countries.
• Carrier must be leak proof and well ventilated. Animal much be able to stand, turn and lay down comfortably
• One passenger can only have one pet carrier and it must fit under the seat in front of the passenger
  • Pet cannot be included in the free baggage
• Transport Fee: In Finland the fee is 27 euros (including VAT) for a one way flight for each animal in the carrier
• Puppies much be weaned and able to eat on their own.
  • In Finland, as most countries, the minimum age for air transportation of puppies I 8 weeks

  Note; Finnair takes into consideration passengers with special needs, for instance, passengers who are allergic to animals. Finnair will attempt to seat the passenger as far as possible from any animal traveling on the same flight, or they will recommend another flight. Note: The air conditioning onboard the aircraft is very effective and there is a very small risk of being exposed to animal allergens.

  Pet Passport: From October 1, 2004, all dogs cats and ferrets travailing on the same flight with the owner with the EU, must be identifiable by a microchip or a clearly readable tattoo. In addition the animals are to be accompanied by a pet passport. The passport should include certification of anti-rabies vaccinations, as well as other information concerning the health status of the animals.
